flower punches, recycle, vaccine vials
I work in a doctors office and during flu season, our office was going through a ton of influenza shots! So, being the crafty one in my office, I started telling the nurses to start saving the vials for me. I needed about 80 of them! They did a WONDERFUL job of saving the vials for me!
After cleaning them out, removing labels & making these little flower vases, I handed them out to our clinical staff. We implemented a new computer system this year & it has been “HELL”, so after I handed them out, I sent an email to them & said “Everyone has been stressed with learning our new computer system, so next time you start getting stressed out about it, stop & smell the flowers (well these don’t smell, but you get the concept).
These did put smiles around the office… that week…. *sigh*
I took a class at Painting with a Twist a few months ago, and as all crafters do, I wanted to do MORE!
So, when I got home I made these two paintings later that week.
You can tell by the colors of this basket that it was from the 90’s. I refused to pay $$ for a new one that would just get outdated again, so, I made this one over with supplies I already had!
(the closure was even broken on this, that’s why the off color ribbon)
make-over sewing basket:
ended up using purple fabric paint (in the tube) to paint over the green striped wood.
Fixed the closure with a button & a jewelry necklace closure. Kinda tricky, but I’m the only one that uses it, so its ok!
Last weekend I went to the Gem, Mineral and Fossil Show here in Houston. It was nice and small and close to my house. Being my first time to this show, I went around to everything first then went back to THE GEODE GALLERY that came from Indiana with all their geodes.
Well, I had no idea how to select my geode, but the guys at the booth were extremely helpful in explaining how to select a “good one”. The kind I picked was a Mexican “Coconut” Geode because I wanted some sort of color inside versus the other kind they had that you needed a black light to shine on the geode to show a color hue it had.
Each “coconut” was marked with a number -turns out it was the price. As I was picking up geode to see which one (price-wise) I wanted, the guy explained, the more lightweight, means the cavity inside is bigger & has more to it. After hearing that, I went with the very first one I picked up. So the two men went over to this machine with a chain, one held the geode, the other made the machine squeeze the geode till it cracked in 1/2. At this time there were a bunch of cub scouts standing around watching as well.
The man let me open it first to see my very first geode. LOVED IT!!! It has a slight blue/purple/gray hue inside and VERY sparkly with some calcite!! I had the biggest smile on my face!!! Of course I had to buy the stand to show it off!!!
Once the men packed my geode & stand for me, they said “it may be your first, but it won’t be your last…” Oh I know THAT!! LOVE it!!!

alien, dracula, frankenstein, ghost, halloween, punch art, skull, Stampin Up!, two-step owl punch
I’ve had the Stampin Up! two-step owl punch for a while & never used it much. Since the Halloween season is approaching, I’ve seen it used for ghosts. So here are MY creations with it — an Alien, Frankenstein, a skull, Dracula & ghosts. Whatta think?

My craft desk was a complete mess, so I created a swap to challenge myself. “Clean off your desk Challenge” was a swap that you were to take a “before” photo of your craft desk top –yes as is, a mess…
Clean off your desk swap BEFORE
I had tons of projects and supplies on my craft desk top. I wanted to actually UTILIZE all the stuff laying ON my desk top & not go into any other supplies around my craft room. Great idea huh? Yeah, well, when I actually was able to complete 40 cards from all that stuff JUST on my desk top, it made me really stop to think… DO NOT buy anymore new stuff.
Clean off your desk swap AFTER
Due to time restrictions, I was only able to make 40 cards…. I still probably could make another 60 with the supplies/stuff STILL on my desk top. With my new position as work, I don’t have all craft time I used to have for my swaps right now. Makes me sad that I can’t craft as much as I want to, but the OT pay from work makes me happier for my savings for my Galapagos trip!! 🙂 I’ll have time to craft again soon…. 🙂
bee, bug, caterpillar, punch art, splitcoast stampers, Stampin Up punches
I love making punch art. I got the inspirations from SplitcoastStampers (as usual) and one of my favorite punch art artists, Kim. I’ve got a box of completed punch art ready to use for a future card! I can never just make just one of any punch art.
PUNCH ART bee
This bee is my version of Kim’s bee. I print her directions to follow if its a bit difficult than normal…and this bee was !!! He’s cute, and thankfully I made 12 at the same time because he was very time consuming.
